John Lattanzi Member since 2007.
John was born and raised on Long Island NY, after graduating High School he spent 4 years in the USMC ever since he can remember his family always had a dog, the dog that he grew up with was a GSD that his family adopted from an animal shelter. Two years after receiving an honorable discharge from the USMC. John joined the NYPD where he has been a patrolman for the past 16 years. His first Rottweiler was a rescue who was abandoned in an apartment for two weeks and almost starved to death. After two weeks at the ASPCA John adopted Nena. She was 38 lbs at 7 months old, and in a short time with John she gained back most of her weight and was doing well. She had a relapse and died within 24 hours of becoming sick. John, sick with grief, bought his first Rottweiler within a few days to ease the pain of missing Nena. Rowdy was Johns new dog and traveled and trained with him constantly, and when John had to move into an apartment in 1995 he asked a friend (Roberta) if she would walk the dog while he worked late, Roberta soon became his girlfriend/fiancé and they were married in January 1997. That same year John and Roberta bought their new house, Roberta's first birthday in the new house John asked Roberta if she wanted a curio cabinet for the new house or a dog she could call her own. Within a few days dog #2, Athena was now part of the family. John and Roberta attempted to add more Rottweilers to their family but one by one they did not pan out. Shortly after that they decided to buy their first higher end Rottweiler, and traveled 7 hours to Virginia to look at her when she was 4 weeks old, and not only fell in love with the 4 week old but we left with a 10 week old puppy also and returned 4 weeks later to pick up the now 8 week old. So that made four. But to make a long story short, John and Roberta traveled for a couple of years doing Seiger shows but have since decided that it is more fun to trial their dogs verses showing them. They now have 5 (only Athena is left from the original crew) beautiful Rottweilers, two of which are house dogs and three which are working dogs. They train locally with a small group of people and friends on Long Island and have recently titled two of their dogs to a BH and are looking forward to training the dogs to the Schutzhund level. Roberta and John train together and travel to whereever they can to train with quality people and clubs. They have been members of the USRC since 2003, These members lives revolve around training and their dogs. Their heart and sould are into the Rottweiler and the sport of schutzhund. If you visit John and Roberta dont fear their dogs, but fear their cat, KC which doesnt stand for Kitty Cat but Killer Cat. John's favorite motto: Those that fear
the Rottweiler, Never owned a Rottweiler.
John's Goal: To be one of those
handler/dog teams that people see and say "Wow, Nice team work.
I want my dog to be trained like that." |
